Here’s the Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site learning microsite which was part of the Wall Face learning programme. This learning resource supports KS3 Art and Design students to critically analyse and evaluate portraiture from an uncommon perspective. They are encouraged to look at ancient Roman objects from Hadrian’s Wall sites and National Portrait Gallery images.
Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project provided great opportunities for real-world learning. The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom thought so too and used us as a case study, with this and other classroom and visit resources as well as transcriptions of 18th Century letters and ledgers, historical recipes and archaeological reports available to download from the project website.
The Lost Palace – beautifully illustrated KS2 story and activities based on Yeavering Bell iron age hillfort from prehistoric to modern times (good for teaching English: fiction, non-fiction with a bit of Beowulf too) – as seen from the perspective of the wild goats who still live on the hill
Walltown Education Pack KS2 self-guided visit science, literacy and numeracy activities within a country park setting on Hadrian’s Wall
