Every now and then a project of mine makes an appearance in the Guardian newspaper’s Country Diary. This is coincidence as their writer Susie White @CottageGardener lives just across the valley from me. However, it is great to see the heritage I work for through other people’s eyes; the comments are always worth a scroll through.
This week Susie’s writing achieved a new milestone – her diary entry about walking across Epiacum Roman Fort and historic landscape was trending on the Guardian’s front page, meaning it was one of the ten most read articles at that time.
At one point this morning the Country Diary was trending amongst all the news on the Guardian website @GdnCountryDiary @epiacum pic.twitter.com/11DjGNVERH

Readers were obviously needing some respite from all the other news.
